On February 15, 2012, Mr. Eugy Loeza, a Post Commander for Universal Protection Service, attended a CPR/ First Aid/ AED training class. Within one hour of the class ending, Eugy had picked up his family and was driving home on Imperial Avenue when he observed an adult male subject collapse on the sidewalk. The subject was non-responsive, and Eugy immediately stopped to render aid. The subject was unresponsive and unconscious. As he had been taught, Eugy began chest compressions. Momentarily the subject became conscious and responsive. The subject had displayed symptoms of a heart attack and also experienced a seizure. Eugy was able to render effective, life-saving aid, stabilizing the victim until Emergency Medical Services arrived. EMS personnel relieved Eugy, and transported the victim to a local hospital.
